HEARST CASTLE CALIFORNIA

Via Wikipedia:
Hearst Castle is a palatial estate on the central California coast and a National Historic Landmark. It was designed by architect Julia Morgan for newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst from 1919 until 1947. In 1957 the Hearst Corporation donated the property to the state of California. Since that time it has been maintained as state historic park where the estate and its considerable collection of art and antiques are open for public tours. Despite its location far from any urban center, the site attracts roughly one million visitors per year.
A friend shared to us his photos during his recent trip in California and we were instantly mesmerized by this place.

PHILIPPE STARCK'S DESIGN FOR LIFE

Design For Life is a new reality TV program, which started last September 14 in the UK. It aims to create an 'english style' among the Brits which they lack according to Philippe Starck himself. Adds Philippe, 'I am a sort of new bottle-opener. You don't make good design if you think about design', he continues, 'you make good design if you speak about life, sex, flesh, sweat.'

ANNA WINTOUR OFFICE DESK

Recently, a documentary detailing the frivolous job of Anna Wintour releasing the thickest issue on Vogue's calendar has been released. Nonetheless, entitled as The September Issue. US Vogue editor Anna Wintour's desk has not slipped every design lover's scrutinizing eye.

Click "Read More" to read how the public sees the "Devil's" take on vogue desk.

From Apartment Therapy:
We were most surprised by the fact the workspace decor seems warm and almost welcoming; not the feeling one would expect of the notoriously demanding editor's office.
From One Grand Home:
I’ll just come out and say it–I am taken aback by the state of Anna Wintour’s office. Yes, I expected it to be artfully messy and all that. And I expected the Queen of All Sylphs to have a seat that sacrificed comfort for aesthetics.
What we might not know is that Anna Wintour's office looked a lot more interesting until "The Devil Wears Prada" came to the box office in 2006.

An old article from WWD reads:

Now Wintour has redecorated to erase any similarity, a Vogue spokesman confirmed Wednesday.

“Anna has decided to freshen up her office,” said the spokesman. “After this summer’s film, it ceased to feel personal.”

Just look at the striking similarities:

We definitely want the old Anna Wintour space.

HAIR CHAIR BY DEJANA KABILJO

We love hair attached to human heads or canines (and felines). But when it's in the shower drain or elsewhere, we find it a little disarming - like these hair chairs for example designed by Dejano Kabiljo for the PrettyPretty seating collection.

Are you ready for more hair-raising chairs? Click "Read More".

Made from horsetail hair, PrettyPretty chairs come in two styles - a pouf or bar stool with the hair either free-flowing or tied down. We read that even Philippe Starck chose the stool version for the main bar of the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. Now, that's a sight to see!

*Speaking of SLS Hotel in L.A., a little local gossip wouldn't hurt would it?
